Shaheen Afridi said that Pakistan will do their best to win Asia Cup 2025.

Pakistan Cricket Team pacer Shaheen Afridi has reacted to Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav’s “no rivalry between India and Pakistan” remarks. After the India vs Pakistan game in the Super Four of the Asia Cup 2025, Indian Cricket Team captain made a bold statement, saying that there is no rivalry between the two arch-rivals anymore, highlighting his team’s strong record against opposition.

The Indian skipper made the statement during the post-match press conference following India’s victory against Pakistan at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. The Men in Blue dominate Pakistan in head-to-head records in T20Is, winning 12 games and losing only three matches out of 15 encounters.

In the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, India have crushed the Men in Green on both occasions so far. During the group stage, they outplayed the Salman Agha-led side by seven wickets, chasing down a 128-run target. In the Super Four round, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side chased down a 172-run target against Pakistan with six wickets in hand.

After the Super Four victory against Pakistan, Suryakumar said, “I think you should stop asking questions on the rivalry because rivalry is when both sides play 15-20 matches, and one side is ahead by 8-7. It is called playing good cricket and a rivalry. 3-0, 10-1, I don’t know what the stat is, but this is not a rivalry anymore”.

Ahead of Pakistan’s clash against Bangladesh in Asia Cup 2025, Afridi responded to the Indian skipper’s statements. The left-arm pacer said that Pakistan still have a chance to outplay India if both sides reach the Asia Cup 2025 final.

“Let him say what he wants. Neither has he reached the final yet, nor have we. We will see when the moment comes. It is our job to win. We have come to win the Asia Cup. We will do our best,” he said.

Speaking about his performances in Asia Cup 2025, Afridi said that he always tries to give his 100 per cent in bowling, batting or fielding.

“Like the last two matches, the way you said about batting, my job is that whenever I get a position, I bowl. Batting, fielding, bowling, whatever I get, I give my 100%. Because it is obvious. Whenever I play, I try to give my 100%. So my job is to raise the morale of the team and play all the cricket with energy,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by five wickets in their previous game to keep their chances of reaching the Asia Cup 2025 final alive. They will next clash with Bangladesh on September 25, which could be a virtual knockout game for both teams.
