[Watch] Shardul Thakur takes hat-trick in Ranji Trophy match vs Meghalaya

Shardul Thakur scored a century against Jammu & Kashmir in Mumbai’s last Ranji Trophy game.
After a shocking five-wicket loss to Jammu & Kashmir in their last game, Mumbai began their last group match of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season against Meghalaya on Thursday, January 30.
The defending champions are currently third in the group with 22 points and three wins from six games. They trail leaders Jammu and Kashmir by seven points, who have 29 points.
Bowling first, Mumbai got off to a strong start. They took early wickets to reduce Meghalaya to 42/8 before Himan Phukan and Anish Charak put on a valuable 42-run partnership for the ninth wicket.
Shardul Thakur made history by claiming a hat-trick in the first innings. He first bowled Balchander Anirudh before getting Sumit Kumar to edge a full delivery to the slips. He completed the hat-trick by dismissing Jaskirat Singh Sachdeva with a brilliant inswinger that sneaked through the left-hander’s bat and pad.
Shardul led Mumbai’s bowling attack with a four-wicket haul that bowled out Meghalaya for just 86 runs in the first innings. He received good support from Mohit Avasthi and Sylvester D’Souza, who picked up three and two wickets, respectively.

At the time of writing, Mumbai are 87/2, leading by one run in their first innings. Siddhesh Lad (33*) and captain Ajinkya Rahane (17*) are at the crease. Mumbai will aim for a big first-innings lead and push for an innings win.
