Shashank Singh was dismissed via run out for 37 runs soon after the collision.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter Shashank Singh suffered a nasty shoulder injury after he collided with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match on May 9, 2024. The encounter was hosted at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.

RCB were asked to bat first against PBKS on Thursday after Faf du Plessis lost the toss. They struggled from the start, losing du Plessis (9) and Will Jacks (12) early on.

However, Virat Kohli was exceptional in keeping the innings running at breakneck speed. He and Rajat Patidar (55 off 23) combined for 76 runs to put the team in charge.

Kohli dominated the match before being removed for 92 off 47 balls, hitting seven fours and six maximums. Then, Cameron Green (46) and Dinesh Karthik (18) helped RCB post a mammoth 241/7 total.

Harshal Patel took three wickets, while Vidwath Kaverappa returned with two scalps for PBKS on his IPL debut.

PBKS had a huge task at their hands, which became even more difficult when they lost Prabhsimran Singh for six runs. Jonny Bairstow hit some solid shots but was dismissed for 27 in 16 balls. He was outfoxed by Lockie Ferguson, who bowled a slower ball and Faf du Plessis took a good catch over his shoulder.

Rilee Russouw then smacked 61 in 27 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes to give PBKS innings the momentum it needed. But when it looked like Russouw would take PBKS all the way, he was dismissed by Karn Sharma.

Jitesh Sharma (5) and Liam Livingstone (0) followed soon after, leaving Shashank Singh and Sam Curran to chase at quite a steep asking rate. But in the 14th over, Shashank found himself on the ground, clutching his shoulder.

While coming back for a second run, Shashank ran straight into the RCB captain du Plessis and seemingly hurt his fielder. He was on the ground for a long time and was treated by the PBKS physio. It took a few minutes before Shashank could get up and resume batting.
