“The unwavering support..”- Shivam Dube hails Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma for his success at ICC T20 World Cup 2024

Shivam Dube scored a crucial 16-ball 27 in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa.

India all-rounder Shivam Dube had a decent outing for his team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He recently hailed the support of coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma, which helped him wade through struggles in the early part of the tournament.

Dube, who was preferred in the Indian XI over Rinku Singh, had a minimal effect with the bat in the T20 World Cup, scoring 133 runs in eight games, with a highest score of 34. But when it mattered most, he showed his value. His cameo of 27 from 16 balls in the final against South Africa proved to be crucial to India’s victory.

Reflecting on his experience at the recently concluded event, Dube said, “The World Cup journey taught me a lot. The final was a crucial moment, and I am glad I could contribute to the team’s efforts. Every match in the T20 World Cup was a learning experience, and the support from my teammates and fans kept me motivated. In the end, it’s about giving your best for the team and making every opportunity count.”

Dube came to bat when India were at 103/4 after 13.3 overs in the final match against South Africa. Under duress, the 31-year-old joined Virat Kohli and shared a vital partnership of 57 runs for the fifth wicket, which helped steady the innings and take India to 176 runs.

Shivam Dube thanked Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma for their support as he struggled with the bat in the league stage of the T20 World Cup. He said the unwavering support benefited him and strengthened his resolve to improve and contribute to India’s success.

“It was both challenging and motivating. It was a test of my mental strength and perseverance. The unwavering support from our captain and coach was incredible. They constantly backed me, encouraging me to stay positive and keep working hard. Their faith in my abilities and their guidance helped me stay focused and believe in myself. This experience has made me stronger and more determined to improve and contribute to the team’s success in the future,” said Dube.

Shivam Dube recently played in the Zimbabwe T20I series as well and bagged the Player of the Match award for his 12-ball 26 in the fifth match of the series.
