Who is Shubham Dubey? All you need to know about uncapped Indian batsman sold to Rajasthan Royals for 5.8 Crore

RR signed uncapped Indian batter Shubham Dubey for INR 5.8 crore at the IPL 2024 auction.
The IPL 2024 auction has gone pretty well for some of the players so far. Already, we have seen two Australian superstars cross the 20-crore mark, which has never happened before in the IPL auction. Mitchell Starc became the most expensive player with a deal worth Rs. 24.75 crore from the Kolkata Knight Riders, while Sunrisers Hyderabad signed Pat Cummins for INR 20.5 crore.
Apart from that, Daryl Mitchell, Harshal Patel, and Alzarri Joseph also crossed the 10-crore mark and were among the costliest players at the ongoing auction. However, there was also an uncapped Indian star that became the center of attraction between the couple of franchises and went on to beg a deal worth Rs. 5.8 crore – Shubham Dubey.
Who is Shubham Dubey?
Born in Yavatmal, Shubham Dubey is an uncapped Indian batter who plays for Vidarbha. He was part of the set 6 that had an uncapped Indian batter with a base price of INR 20 lakh. But as soon as his name was announced, the Delhi Capitals started the bid. Soon, the Rajasthan Royals also joined in. Both franchises were keen to have the 29-year-old on their side.
The bid crossed 2 crore, and then it also crossed the 5-crore mark. Eventually, RR won the bidding war and signed Shubham Dubey for a price of INR 5.8 crore. It may be a surprise to many, but this uncapped star has been a brilliant player. He was with DC on trials ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, and the franchise saw him, and that’s the reason Delhi went after him.
He recently finished the Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy 2023-24 with 221 runs in 7 games at an average of 73.66 and a strike rate of 187.28. He is a powerful striker and can clear the ground on his own. He has played 20 T20s so far in his career, scored 485 runs at a strike rate of 145.20, and is a pretty good finisher.
