The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 has had some brilliant games of cricket, and every team have tried to get off with a win. Some teams have succeeded, while others didn't have the expected result. The Indian team started the competition with a win over the five-time champions Australia that too without their in-form opener Shubman Gill. The 23-year-old was diagnosed with dengue last week and was hospitalized in Chennai.

He missed the second game for India against Afghanistan played on Wednesday. Team India are scheduled to play their next game on October 14, which will be the biggest clash of the tournament. It is an IND-PAK game that will take place on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The stakes of this game are very high, and all the seats have been booked.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Shubman Gill to join the squad ahead of IND-PAK Clash in Ahmedabad

However, ahead of India's clash against arch-rivals Pakistan, the Indian camp got pretty good news as Gill, who missed the first two matches for India, will rejoin the squad before of the high-voltage clash in Ahmedabad. He has recovered from dengue and will be joining the team once he is declared fit. Though he is still doubtful for the game against Pakistan on October 14.

Gill, who didn't travel with the team for the clash against the Afghanistan, was hospitalized in Delhi. However, a BCCI official told PTI about Gill's recovery. He said, "Gill is doing absolutely fine and is set to leave Chennai for Ahmedabad today. It is still not clear whether Gill will have a light training session at Motera on Thursday. His recovery has been fine but can't really be sure if he can play against Pakistan."

Shubman Gill has been in superb form and is the leading run-scorer in ODIs in 2023. He has scored 1230 runs in 50-over cricket this year at an average of 72.35 and a strike rate of 105.03. He has scored two hundreds and fifty in his last four ODI innings. In Gill's absence, Ishan Kishan opened the innings but it didn't work out as he got out for a golden duck against Australia. Gill's return will surely be a confidence booster for the hosts.
