Right-hand opening batter Shubman Gill took to Twitter and Instagram to post an image with a few emojis as caption. Gill used a lens and a facepalm emoji with a closer look of Green diving to his left while taking a grab and the ball touching the ground as well. Shubman Gill looked completely disappointed with the umpire's decision, when Kettleborough ruled him out, he stood there for a few seconds with a dejected look on his face before walking out with captain Rohit Sharma after the end of the second session. Shubman Gill was building a decent partnership with captain Rohit Sharma before losing his wicket to Scott Boland. Boland bowled a good length delivery which bounced a little higher than Gill was expecting and the ball kissed the shoulder of his bat and flew towards Green at third slip. As the ball was approaching the third slip, Green dived to his left to catch the ball which was dipping. The moment the ball came into his hand, the camera angle also suggested that the ball had dipped and also touched the ground. This became the moment of controversy in the big WTC Final at The Oval.
