India had a decent outing with bat on day one of SL vs IND second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo.
After a win in the opening Test, the Indian Cricket Team started the second Test on a high. They had a solid outing with the bat on day one at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on Sunday.
India didn’t have the kind of start they would have wanted as KL Rahul threw his wicket away at 18. Yashasvi Jaiswal (45) looked in solid touch until a peach by Asitha Fernando ended his stay.
With the team at 66 for two, Devdutt Padikkal (117) and captain Shubman Gill (50) steadied the Indian ship with their 120-run stand for third wicket.
While Padikkal went on to hit his second century of the series, Gill fell against the run of play after his half-century. Rishabh Pant retired hurt for three; however, Ravindra Jadeja (43) supported Padikkal brilliantly as the Jadeja-Padikkal duo took India past 250.
Jadeja fell on the stroke of stumps as India ended day one with 300 for five with Dhruv Jurel and Saransh Jain at crease.

The action on the day two of the second Test between Sri Lanka and India will begin at 10 AM IST/local. The first session will be followed by a 40-minute lunch break between 12 and 12:40 PM IST.
The second session will run from 12:40 PM to 2:40 PM IST. Following that, there will be a tea break, which will last 20 minutes. The last sessions on Day 2 in Colombo will start at 3:00 PM IST and will last until 5 PM IST. There will be an extension of half an hour also to make up for remaining overs.
