SL vs IND 2024: Most runs, most wickets after 1st ODI, Colombo

SL vs IND first ODI ended in a tie.
After being asked to field first, Indian bowlers had a great day with the ball as they restricted hosts Sri Lanka to 230/8 in 50 overs in the first match of the three-match ODI series at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on August 2.
India left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh and all-rounder Axar Patel picked two wickets each. Pacer Mohammed Siraj dismissed one batter and bowled two maidens in his eight-over spell. The spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar also bagged one scalp apiece.
For hosts, Dunith Wellalage played an unbeaten knock of 67 runs off 65 balls and opener Pathum Nissanka’s 56 runs helped Lanka to reach a respectable total.
While chasing 231 runs, Indian captain Rohit Sharma scored 58 runs off 47 balls and provided the visitors with a good start as they reached 87/3 in the first 16 overs.
However, Sri Lanka bowlers pulled things back as they picked four crucial wickets in the middle overs of Virat Kohli (24), Shreyas Iyer (23), KL Rahul (31) and Axar Patel (33). The visitors then slipped to 197/7 after the end of the 41st over.
Towards the end, Sri Lanka skipper Charith Asalanka took two consecutive wickets of Shivam Dube (25) and Arshdeep Singh (0) as the thrilling clash tied after India were all-out for 230 runs in 47.5 overs.
The second match of the ongoing SL vs IND ODI series will be played on August 4 at the very same stadium in Colombo.
SL vs IND 2024: Most Runs
After the end of opening ODI, Sri Lanka batter Dunith Wellalage is at the top of the list of leading run-scorers in the series with 67 runs. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma follows him next with 58 runs.
With 56 runs, Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka takes the third spot. Indian all-rounder Axar Patel is at fourth with 33 runs. India wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul finds himself at fifth position with 31 runs to his name.

SL vs IND 2024: Most Wickets
Sri Lanka skipper Charith Asalanka is the leading wicket-taker after the end of the first ODI match. The off-spinner bagged three wickets in the first ODI.
His teammate Wanindu Hasaranga follows him next with three scalps. Indian all-rounder Axar Patel is at third position with three wickets.
Sri Lanka’s Dinuth Wellalage is positioned fourth with two wickets. India’s left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh is at fifth spot with two scalps.
