SL vs IND 2024: Most runs, most wickets after 1st T20I, Pallekele

After winning the opening match, India took lead 1-0 in the three-match SL vs IND T20I series.
As the Gautam Gambhir era kicked off in Indian cricket, India posted an impressive total of 213/7 in 20 overs against hosts Sri Lanka in the first match of the ongoing three-match T20I series on July 27 at the Pallekele International Stadium in Pallekele.
After being asked to bat first, India’s new T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav led from the front with a brilliant 26-ball 58 after openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (40 off 21 deliveries) and Shubman Gill (34 off 16 balls) stitched an opening stand of 74 runs.
Wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant also hammered crucial 49 runs with the bat as visitors posted more than 200 runs on the board. For hosts Sri Lanka, star pacer Matheesha Pathirana was the most successful bowler with 4/40 in his four-over spell.
While chasing a huge total, Sri Lanka openers Pathum Nissanka (79 runs off 48 balls) and wicket-keeper batter Kusal Mendis a blistering 27-ball 45, which gave the hosts a good start as they went on to score 149-3 in the first 15 overs. The duo also stitched a crucial opening stand of 84 runs.
However, India bowlers pulled things back quickly as Sri Lanka started losing wickets at regular intervals. Towards the end, the hosts were all out for 170 runs as visitors clinched the opening fixture by 43 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.

After the end of the opening fixture of the three-match T20I series, Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka is the leading run-scorer with 79 runs. India captain Suryakumar Yadav is at second position with 58 runs to his name.
Men in Blue wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant is placed third with 49 runs. At fourth is Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis with 45 runs. Indian star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is at fifth spot with 40 runs.

Sri Lanka speedster Matheesha Pathirana is the leading wicket-taker of the ongoing series after the end of the first T20I match. Pathirana has four wickets to his name. India off-spinner Riyan Parag is second with three wickets. With two wickets, India left-arm speedster Arshdeep Singh is in the third position.
Men in blue bowlers Axar Patel and Mohammed Siraj are at fourth and fifth spots respectively. Axar has two wickets, whereas Siraj has one wicket to his name after the end of the first SL vs IND match.
