SL vs IND 2024: Weather forecast for 1st ODI in Colombo

SL vs IND 1st ODI match will be played at the R.Premadasa Stadium on Friday.

After thrashing Sri Lanka 3-0 in the recently concluded three-match T20I series, the Indian cricket team are all set to lock horns against the hosts in the first game of the three-match ODI series at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on August 2.

The Men in Blue will be led by veteran cricketer Rohit Sharma, who recently announced his T20I retirement. Youngster Shubman Gill is the new vice-captain of India’s white-ball teams. The series will mark the return of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Rohit to international cricket.

For the hosts, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have named star batter Charith Asalanka as their new ODI skipper as well, after naming him their new T20I skipper last month.

The board has named a 16-member line-up that includes the likes of Pathum Nissanka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Kusal Mendis and Maheesh Theekshana. However, they have lost the services of fast bowlers Matheesha Pathirana and Dilshan Madushanka due to injuries.

The opening fixture of the SL vs IND three-match ODI series might see a delayed start and/or could get interrupted due to rain.

According to Accuweather.com, there is a 78% probability of precipitation and a 47% chance of thunderstorms in Colombo on August 2, Friday.

A cloud cover of 90% is also forecasted. According to the hourly forecast, during the match hours, rain is predicted from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
