SRH owner Kavya Maran enthusiastically supports her team in all of their matches.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) owner Kavya Maran was left in tears after Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) decimated the Pat Cummins-led side to win their third IPL title in a one-sided final. The summit clash was played in Chennai on May 26, 2024.
Pat Cummins had won the toss and chosen to bat first in Chennai.
SRH had a poor performance, losing their key openers, Abhishek Sharma (2) and Travis Head (0), within the first two overs. With Rahul Tripathi falling for 9 during the powerplay, SRH stood at 41/3 after six overs.
The middle and lower order offered little resistance. Shahbaz Ahmed (8) and Abdul Samad (4) failed to support Heinrich Klaasen, who scored 16 runs. Pat Cummins top-scored for Hyderabad side with 24 with 2 fours and 1 six, while Aiden Markram made 20 runs with 3 fours to his name.
SRH’s innings finished at 113, the lowest score by a team batting first in an IPL final. For Kolkata Knight Riders, Andre Russell starred with the ball, returning figures of 3/19, while Mitchell Starc and Harshit Rana picked two wickets apiece.

In their defense, Sunrisers captain Pat Cummins did well, as he dismissed the dangerous Sunil Narine for just 6 runs. But Rahmanullah Gurbaz took the attack to the opposition scoring 39 runs with 5 fours and 2 sixes, before getting out to Shahbaz Ahmed.
But Venkatesh Iyer came out wielding his willow and in a hurry to finish the game. He remained unbeaten on 52 with 4 fours and 3 sixes as KKR won the match by 8 wickets and 57 balls to spare.
Kavya Maran, the owner of SRH, was in tears after KKR decimated the Pat Cummins-led Hyderabad side to win their third IPL title in a one-sided final that will be remembered for its overwhelming dominance.
As the game ended, cameras filmed a distraught Kavya, who had been a staunch supporter of her team all season.
Kavya Maran, who attended all of the team’s matches this season, couldn’t hold back her tears after the heartbreaking setback. After first admiring the side’s efforts, Kavya turned around and cried down; she also rejected the consoling efforts of those around her.
