Top 5 highest scores by Suryakumar Yadav in IPL

Suryakumar Yadav made his IPL debut in 2012 for Mumbai Indians.
Suryakumar Yadav, with his aggressive yet creative batting style, has revolutionized the T20 cricket scene. In addition to redefining the art of batting, his unconventional 360-degree shot-making abilities have made him a top player among contemporary T20 batters.
Since making his T20I debut for India, he has proven to be incredibly reliable and has frequently flourished under trying circumstances to help India win matches.
His Indian Premier League (IPL) career—especially his time with the Mumbai Indians (MI), when he solidified his reputation as a versatile and dependable middle-order batter—is the cornerstone of his success on the global scene.
Suryakumar Yadav made his IPL debut in 2012 for MI, but flourished when the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought him in IPL 2014, winning the title that year. KKR inexplicably parted ways with the mercurial batter before IPL 2018, and MI wasted no time in acquiring his services, and have been their batting mainstay since then.
He has so far played 150 IPL matches in all and scored 3594 runs at a strike rate of 145.32 with two centuries and 24 fifties to his name.
Today, we are going to check out the top five innings by Suryakumar Yadav in the IPL.
Here are the top 5 highest scores by Suryakumar Yadav in IPL:
5. 79* vs RCB (2020)
In the 48th match of IPL 2020 match, Suryakumar Yadav scored a pivotal unbeaten 79-run innings against Royal Challengers Bangalore (Royal Challengers Bengaluru now). This remarkable effort highlighted his capacity to perform well under duress.
MI were losing wickets at regular intervals as they chased a goal of 165, but Suryakumar stayed calm and spearheaded the attack with a brilliant 43-ball innings that featured three sixes and ten fours at a strike rate of 183.72, and he led MI to the win by himself.
4. 82 vs SRH (2021)
This was the 55th match of the IPL 2021 as MI faced Sunrisers Hyderabad in Abu Dhabi. MI captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first. Ishan Kishan led from the front with 84 in 32 balls with 11 fours and four sixes, as the Mumbai Indians posted a huge 235/9 in 20 overs.
Helping MI reach that total was Suryakumar Yadav, who stroked a mercurial 82 in 40 balls with 13 fours and six sixes at a strike rate of 205. Suryakumar was brutal in his innings as he picked gaps with ridiculous ease and managed boundaries at will. This proved to be enough as SRH, despite captain Manish Pandey’s 69*, could only muster 193/8 in 20 overs, losing by 42 runs.
3. 83 vs RCB (2023)
Faf du Plessis’ 65 and Glenn Maxwell’s 68 had powered RCB to 199/6 in 20 overs against MI in the 54th match of the IPL 2023, played at the Wankhede Stadium. Dinesh Karthik had played a quick 18-ball, 30-run knock as well.
In reply, while Ishan Kishan (42) and Nehal Wadhera (52*) made significant contributions for Mumbai, their innings was held together by Suryakumar Yadav, who smacked 83 in just 35 balls as he hit seven fours and six sixes. Suryakumar Yadav took out all the air from RCB’s resistance as his assault on their bowling was relentless, and MI won the game quite comfortably.
2. 102* vs SRH (2024)
SRH’s juggernaut clashed with MI in 55th match of IPL 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium. This was one of the MI’s last league matches, and they wanted to close their poor campaign on a winning note. SRH batted first, and thanks to 48 by Travis Head and 35* by Pat Cummins, they posted 173/8 in 20 overs.
In reply, MI faltered from the start and lost their first three wickets for single-digit scores and were reeling at 31/3 in the fifth over. But, Suryakumar Yadav took on the responsibility to see MI off with a win and hammered 102* in 51 balls with 12 fours and six sixes. He smashed the SRH bowlers to all parts of the Wankhede stadium as Marco Jansen went for 45 runs in his 3 overs. This was Suryakumar Yadav’s second century in IPL history, and this also resulted in MI’s win.
1. 103* vs GT (2023)
This knock was Suryakumar Yadav’s first century in the IPL. It came in the 57th match of IPL 2023, and it was played between MI and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
GT captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl first. MI got a decent start of 61 runs in 6 overs of powerplay, but needed a good innings to push themselves to an above-par total. That innings came from the bat of Suryakumar Yadav. He kept the momentum going after coming in at one down and smoked 11 fours and six sixes as he scored 103* in 49 balls at a strike rate of 210.20.
Suryakumar Yadav’s familiarity with the Wankhede Stadium helped him play his game as MI posted 218/5 in 20 overs, despite GT spinner Rashid Khan’s 4/30. In response, Rashid also starred with the bat, scoring 79* with three fours and 10 sixes, and almost took GT to the win, as they scored 191/8 and lost by 27 runs.
Suryakumar Yadav’s first-ever century in the IPL got him a Player of the Match award.
