The first ODI game between India and West Indies was one of the shortest ODI matches in history, played for just 45.5 overs, and India won it by five wickets with 22.1 overs to spare. Spinners from both sides troubled the batters, which was expected on a slow pitch. For India, Kuldeep Yadav took four, while Ravindra Jadeja picked up three wickets. They bowled out the hosts for just 114 runs in 23 overs.

On the other hand, the hosts made a small target difficult with some good bowling in the second innings. India made 118/5 in 22.5 overs to win, which looked like an easy chase. Though it was a short game for an ODI match, there were many noticeable things in the innings. One of the most talked-about moments in the game was Suryakumar Yadav wearing a Sanju Samson jersey while fielding in the first innings.

India won the toss and decided to field first. When Rohit Sharma announced the squad, he confirmed that Samson was not playing and SKY would bat in the middle order. Though some fans noticed an Indian player wearing Samson's jersey on the field. Well, it was Suryakumar Yadav, who was wearing Samson's jersey because of an issue with the size of other available t-shirts.

Adding to that, there was also a delay in the arrival of the new one. As a result, SKY has to wear Samson's jersey during the first game on Thursday. According to The Indian Express, SKY also updated the management on the size issue on the eve of the first game. But he received a "medium" size t-shirt instead of a "large" size. Notably, as per the rules, if a player is wearing someone else's jersey, he can't put a tape on the name.

Thus, Suryakumar Yadav didn't have another option and wore that jersey. Furthermore, some media reports also confirmed that SKY would be getting the new jersey only on Saturday after the second ODI. Some other players also had issues with the sizes, and they will also get the new ones on Saturday. A BCCI source said, "There was some size issue with his jersey. We were told about it two days before the game. He will be receiving his new jersey after the second ODI as the BCCI has shipped it with Indian team players selected for the T20 series. Till then he will be wearing his team mate jersey while playing."
