PM Narendra Modi lauded Team India for their performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

The wait for Team India to win an ICC Cricket World Cup was almost over when India reached the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at home without losing a game. Everyone thought that Rohit Sharma and his men would repeat their glory of 2011 when MS Dhoni led the country to the World Cup at home. But their unbeaten run ended in the all-important final.

Australia thrashed India in the final at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium to win their sixth world title. On the other hand, India suffered a heartbreaking defeat and were left empty-handed despite playing so well throughout the competition. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi also lauded the efforts of the team in the “Mann ki Baat” while addressing the nation on the last day of the year.

PM said that the men’s team couldn’t win the World Cup, but they won everyone’s heart.

He said, “Indian players won everyone’s heart with their performance in the Cricket World Cup. The victory of our women’s cricket team in the Under-19 T-20 World Cup is very inspiring. The achievements of players in many other sports added to the glory of the country.” The Indian players dominated the batting and bowling charts at the World Cup 2023.

Virat Kohli was the leading run-scorer, while Mohammed Shami was the leading wicket-taker of the tournament. In the year 2023, India won the 8th Asia Cup title and ended up as runners-up after losing the WTC final to Australia. PM Modi also talked about India’s achievements in other sports categories. PM Modi concluded saying that India are now preparing for the upcoming Paris Olympics in 2024.
