There is a high that Mumbai Indians (MI) could trade their captain Hardik Pandya ahead of IPL 2027. As per various media reports, Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) have shown interest in signing the all-rounder. Punjab are reportedly ahead in the talks, while Rajasthan are also looking to bring Hardik into their squad. However, MI could still decide to keep him for the next season.

Hardik Pandya‘s future with Mumbai Indians has become a talking point after the franchise reportedly contacted multiple teams to discuss a possible trade. The all-rounder took over as MI captain in IPL 2024 but the team has failed to reach the playoffs in two out of the three seasons under his leadership.

According to a report by The Indian Express, Mumbai Indians are looking to improve their bowling attack and have received offers from other franchises. Hardik has also been dealing with injury issues and has not played competitive cricket since IPL 2026.

1. Punjab Kings (PBKS)

Punjab Kings are currently the favourites to trade Hardik Pandya from Mumbai Indians. According to The Hindu, both teams are in advanced talks over a possible trade.

Under the proposed deal, India pacer Arshdeep Singh and wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod could move to MI in exchange for Hardik. Punjab are looking to add an experienced all-rounder to their squad ahead of the new season.

However, Hardik is expected to join PBKS as a player, with Shreyas Iyer likely to continue as the team’s captain.

2. Rajasthan Royals (RR)

Rajasthan Royals are another team interested in signing Hardik ahead of IPL 2027. According to Cricbuzz, RR have reportedly offered young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal along with Ravi Bishnoi in a possible trade deal.

The franchise could also consider giving Hardik a leadership role if he joins the team. However, Punjab Kings are currently ahead in the race to sign the all-rounder.

3. Mumbai Indians (MI)

Mumbai Indians could also continue with Hardik Pandya if they decide against trading their captain. The all-rounder returned to MI from Gujarat Titans ahead of IPL 2024 and took over the captaincy from Rohit Sharma.

MI are reportedly looking to add more quality bowlers to their squad and have explored different trade options. If they do not receive a suitable offer from another franchise, Hardik could stay with the five-time champions for IPL 2027.
