Cricket fans had a wonderful year of 2023 to celebrate. This was a World Cup year and fans witnessed so many iconic moments and had great performances in the game of cricket, Apart from ICC Cricket World Cup and international cricket, franchise crickets have also produced iconic moments this year. Rinku Singh’s five sixes in an over against Gujarat Titans are still fresh in everyone’s memory.

Apart from Rinku’s iconic chase, there was one more chase which will be unthinkable to match in future. Glenn Maxwell’s knock against Afghanistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will also be a wonderful memory enriched in everyone’s mind. Apart from these two, there were a few other iconic moments this game has witnessed this year. Let’s have a look at the top 5 moments in 2023.

5. Asia Cup 2023 final, Sri Lanka bundled out on 50 :

Mohammed Siraj’s picked 6/21 in his spell against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final played in September this year. Siraj’s spell helped India finish the game within just 2-3 hours from it began. Sri Lanka were bundled out for 50 and team India took just 6 overs to win the game and lift their 8th Asia Cup title. This match lasted for only 129 balls and fans were disappointed to witness one-sided encounter.

4. MS Dhoni’s one more IPL promise :

It was expected that MS Dhoni will say goodbye to professional cricket after winning IPL 2023 title for Chennai Super Kings, but the love and respect he received throughout IPL 2023 season made him emotional. He announced to comeback for another season in IPL 2024. MS Dhoni will be keeping his spirits high for one more Indian Premier League season.

India hosted the 13th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2023. For the first time in history, India was picked as standalone host of the mega event. They failed to get their hands on the title and also couldn’t end their 10 year wait of an ICC title. 10 cities hosted the mega event in October and November 2023. Australia went on to win their record 6th 50-over World Cup title.

Virat Kohli had a magnificent year of 2023. Virat Kohli’s World Cup semi-final knock against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai will be rejoiced for long. Kohli smashed his 50th ODI ton and broke the long-standing record of Sachin Tendulkar’s 49 ODI centuries. Virat Kohli scored a total of 6 ODI centuries in the year 2023.

Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell played the best ODI knock when he chased down 292 against Afghanistan single-handedly. Australia were reeling under pressure at 91 for 7 while chasing 292 runs at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Maxwell’s knock will be remembered for long. He scored unbeaten 201 runs in 128 balls with 21 fours and 10 sixes. Moreover, he scored those runs while suffering from cramps.
