Rohit Sharma retired from T20Is as the highest run-scorer of the format.
Veteran Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from T20I cricket after winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 trophy by defeating South Africa in the final by seven runs in Barbados on June 29.
Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India remained unbeaten throughout the T20 World Cup 2024. In the group stage, the Men in Blue finished at the top of the standings in Group A. In the Super 8 round, the Rohit-led side dismantled all three opponents they faced and qualified for the semi-finals.
In the semi-final, the Men in Blue took their revenge against England, who had defeated them in the T20 World Cup 2022 semis at the Adelaide Oval. The Rohit-led side then defeated the Proteas in a thrilling grand finale to become the first team to lift an ICC T20I title without losing a single match.
Rohit also became the second Indian skipper after legendary MS Dhoni to clinch the ICC T20 World Cup trophy. With this, India also ended their 11-year-long ICC trophy drought.
As the 37-year-old Indian opener signed off his T20I career on a high note after winning his first ICC title as a captain, let’s take a look at the top five records by Rohit Sharma in T20Is.

The 37-year-old Rohit played 159 matches for the Indian cricket team in the shortest format. Rohit amassed 4231 runs, which is the most by any batter in T20Is till now.
The veteran opener had an average of 32.05 with a good strike rate of 140.89. Behind him is his teammate Virat Kohli, who amassed 4188 runs in the 125 matches he played. Kohli also announced his T20I retirement after winning his maiden T20 World Cup trophy.
2. Most sixes (205)

Rohit smashed 205 sixes in the 151 innings he batted. This is the most by any batter in T20Is. The 37-year-old is so far the only batter to hit 200 or more sixes in this format of the game.

The T20 World Cup 2024-winning captain, Rohit Sharma, signed off his T20I career by playing most matches in the shortest format.
The 37-year-old played 159 games, which is the most by any cricketer till now in T20Is. Behind him is Ireland’s Paul Stirling, who has played 145 games till now.

The 37-year-old Rohit has won 109 games out of the 159 he played for India in T20Is. The 2024 T20 World Cup-winning skipper is also the first and only cricketer to win 100 or more T20I games so far.
Behind Rohit is former Pakistani player Shoaib Malik, who won 86 games out of the 124 he played. Virat Kohli is third with 82 victories to his name in the 125 matches he played in T20Is.

During his legendary career in T20I, Rohit Sharma smashed joint-most T20I centuries. He and Australian batter Glenn Maxwell both have scored five centuries each so far in the shortest format.
Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav has hit four hundreds till now in T20I cricket and is just behind Rohit and Maxwell.
