Top five lowest team totals in IPL

Royal Challengers Bengaluru hold the unwanted record for the lowest team total in the IPL.

Just like any other franchise T20 league, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is known for high-scoring games. Batters often rule the game in T20 cricket and many teams have posted mammoth totals in the IPL over the years. A 250-plus total has been registered on multiple instances in the tournament.

On the contrary, there are also instances where teams completely flopped with their batting and gave a humiliating performance. Their batsmen lost wickets for single digits and as the team observed their worst day on the field.

Over the years, only one team has been bowled out for less than 50 in the IPL. On that note, below are the top five lowest team totals in IPL history.

Under Sourav Ganguly’s captaincy, KKR faced their worst batting performance of IPL history in the match, which saw only three of their batters scoring in double digits. Mumbai chased down the target by eight wickets with an unbeaten 48 by opener Sanath Jayasuriya.

The horrible total was equalled by Daredevils in the 2017 edition in a clash against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). The 36th match of the season took place at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, where Punjab snatched a victory by 10 wickets.
