"Worst chokers.." Fans slam India women as they lose Women's Asia Cup T20 2024 final to Sri Lanka women
Sri Lanka clinched their first ever Women’s Asia Cup T20 title defeating India on July 28.
It was a historic day for the Sri Lanka women’s cricket team as they won their maiden T20 Asia Cup title by thrashing the Indian women’s cricket team by eight wickets in the high-voltage Women’s Asia Cup T20 2024 final on July 28.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, India opener Smriti Mandhana played a fantastic knock of 60 runs in 47 deliveries. Jemimah Rodrigues’ 29 and wicket-keeper batter Richa Ghosh’s quick-fire 14-ball 34 helped India to post a challenging total of 165/6 in 20 overs against hosts Sri Lanka.
While chasing 166, Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Athapaththu played a fighting knock of 61 while Harshitha Samarawickrama smashed 69*, which helped the hosts thrash the Harmanpreet Kaur-led India by eight wickets to win their first ever Women’s T20 Asia Cup title on Sunday.
After India losing the grand finale one-sided, many cricket fans started criticizing Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. for their poor show in the championship match against Sri Lanka.
