"Different class," cricketing fraternity hails Jos Buttler his 6th IPL hundred on 100th IPL match

Jos Buttler now has 6 IPL centuries, leveled with Chris Gayle and only behind Virat Kohli.

Jos Buttler of Rajasthan Royals (RR) was the toast of his team’s brilliant win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the 19th match of the ongoing IPL 2024. This match was played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 6, 2024.

RR captain Sanju Samson won the toss and sent RCB in to bat first. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis added 125 runs for the first wicket. The RCB captain scored 44 in 33 balls before being removed, but Virat Kohli continued at one end on a sluggish pitch.

Kohli concluded with 113* in 72 balls, 12 fours, and 4 sixes to help RCB reach 183/3 in 20 overs. This was his eighth IPL century and the equal slowest in IPL history, taking 67 balls.

Jos Buttler’s unbeaten ton and Sanju Samson take RR to a 6-wicket win over RCB

In response, Reece Topley dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck, but Sanju Samson (69) and Jos Buttler scored 148 runs for the second wicket, putting RR in control.

While RCB picked up quick wickets, including Samson, Riyan Parag (4), and Dhruv Jurel (2), RR had Jos Buttler at the crease.

Buttler, in his 100th IPL encounter, led RR to victory and smashed a six when one run was required to complete his century as well. He finished undefeated on 100 in 58 balls, with four fours and nine sixes, as RR won by six wickets and five balls to spare.

This was Jos Buttler’s 6th IPL century which brings him level with Chris Gayle and only Virat Kohli with 8 centuries is above him in the list of batters with most centuries in the Indian Premier League.
