India pacer Tushar Deshpande shares special post for his father and MS Dhoni on Guru Purnima

Tushar Deshpande made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe during the away five-match series in July 2024.

Indian cricket team pacer Tushar Deshpande shared a special story on his social media handle Instagram on the occasion of Guru Purnima on July 21, 2024. He mentioned his father and his first IPL captain MS Dhoni.

The right-arm pacer Deshpande made his T20I debut for the Indian cricket team during fourth match of the recently-concluded five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe.

The 29-year-old had a decent outing on his T20I debut as he took one wicket. In the final T20I match against Zimbabwe, Deshpande had match figures of 1/26 in three overs.

In the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Deshpande had a great outing with the ball for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The right-arm speedster picked 17 wickets in 13 matches for the Chennai-based franchise.

On the occasion of Guru Purnima on July 21, the Indian pacer Deshpande shared a special Instagram story. He posted a photo of his father and legendary Indian captain Dhoni. Deshpande shared a picture of his father and Dhoni together and wrote a Sanskrit quote, “Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu, Guru Devo Maheshwara, Guru Sakshaat Parabrahma, Tasmei Shri Guruve Namah.” Meaning Guru (a Teacher) is Brahma, the generator, Vishnu, the organizer, and Maheshwara, the destroyer. Guru Sakshat Parabrahma, he’s the supreme god.

Playing for CSK in the IPL helped me: Deshpande after the end of fourth T20I vs Zimbabwe

Before the start of fourth T20I match against Zimbabwe on July 13, when Indian speedster Deshpande was asked about earning his India T20I cap, the fast bowler replied that his childhood dream had come true.

The 29-year-old also added that playing for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL will help him in the internationals.

“Very happy to be here. It all goes back to my childhood days when I dreamt of playing for my country. Being here wearing the blue feels very proud. Means a lot to me. The atmosphere is really great here. Playing for CSK in the IPL helped me. That experience will surely help me in the internationals. Overall the atmosphere in the team is chill,” Deshpande told the broadcaster ahead of the fourth T20I against Zimbabwe on July 13.
