Twitter goes crazy as Suryakumar Yadav smashes his maiden century in the IPL

Suryakumar Yadav has 3 T20I centuries to his name, while this is his first century in the IPL.

Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI) clashed in the 57th match of the IPL 2023 being played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 12, 2023. GT are the table toppers in this tournament, while MI moved to the 3rd spot after back-to-back 200-plus chases.

Hardik Pandya, the GT captain, won the toss and decided to chase as no total is seemingly defendable on the Wankhede pitch off late. Both the teams came into this match unchanged.

MI had a flying start as openers Ishan Kishan (31 in 20) and Rohit Sharma (29 in 18) added 61 runs in 6 overs. However, GT vice-captain, Rashid Khan came into the attack and removed both Rohit and Ishan in quick succession. 

He also got rid of MI’s hero last match, Nehal Wadhera as well for 15 runs.

After that, Suryakumar Yadav took over the run making and the show was his until the very conclusion of the Mumbai Indians’ innings. Vishnu Vinod scored 30 runs in 20 balls and added 65 more runs with Suryakumar.

But Surya absolutely destroyed GT's top bowlers throughout the Wankhede Stadium which h thoroughly enjoyed his hitting.

In the final overs, he even hit Mohammad Shami with some incredible strokes including one which defied belief.

The final ball of MI's innings was when he reached his first IPL century. With a six and played 49 balls for his milestone. Suryakumar Yadav scored 103* with 11 fours and 6 sixes. In 20 overs, his blitz propelled MI to a final total of 218/5.

In his 403rd T20 game, Rashid Khan took 4/30 for GT, reaching the 550-wicket mark.
