This was Cameron Green’s maiden T20 hundred as well which had 8 fours and 8 sixes in it.
Cameron Green was the toast of Mumbai Indians’ (MI) win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in their must-win IPL 2023 encounter on May 21, 2023.
The luck was on MI captain Rohit Sharma’s side as he won the toss and chose to bowl first. MI made one change as Hrithik Shokeen made way for Kumar Karthikeya. SRH made changes as well as Kartik Tyagi and Umran Malik were included in the XI.
SRH openers Vivrant Sharma and Mayank Agarwal gave a dream start to the team as both hammered half-centuries and put on 140 for the first wicket in 14 overs. Vivrant fell to Akash Madhwal for 69 in 47 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes.
Mayank Agarwal continued and made 83 in 46 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes as SRH looked poised for a massive total.
SRH had hoped for a final flourish in the last 4 overs, but Akash Madhwal (4/37) ruined those hopes as after dismissing the set Vivrant and Mayank, he accounted for the dangerous in-form Heinrich Klaasen for 15 and on the next ball, castled Harry Brook for a duck, as SRH managed 200/5 in 20 overs.
Cameron Green’s 100* and Rohit Sharma’s fifty keep MI in the hunt for a playoffs spot with an 8-wicket win
Ishan Kishan fell early for 14 runs, but then Rohit Sharma and Cameron Green added 128 runs for the second wicket as SRH bowlers didn’t have any idea about how to counter them.
Rohit fell for 56 with 8 fours and 1 six, while Cameron Green continued on and hammered 100* his maiden T20 and IPL hundred, which came in 47 balls with 8 fours and 8 sixes. Suryakumar made 25* as MI won the match by 8 wickets in 18 overs.
