Twitter erupts as Shubman Gill smashes his 2nd century of the IPL 2023

Gujarat Titans' opener Shubman Gill smashed 104* off 52 deliveries to help GT beat RCB by 6 wickets in the last league match of IPL 2023.
While Shubman Gill won the hearts of many for his scintillating century, many hearts of the RCB fans were broken as his century stood in between RCB and IPL 2023 playoffs. In a must-win game for RCB, Gill’s century made the difference as he went on to score 104* off just 52 balls. His innings consisted of 5 fours and 6 sixes and in the process also became the 4th batter in the history of IPL to score back-to-back centuries. Notably, Virat Kohli too entered the list as the third batter to do so.
Chasing 198 runs, GT lost Saha early into their innings. Vijay Shankar and Shubman Gill built a partnership and guided the Titans to the target. After Shankar’s wicket, it was a Gill show as he accelerated and never took off his foot from the pedal. With this innings, he also surpassed Virat Kohli in the leaderboard of the Orange cap and is now in the second position after Faf du Plessis with 680 runs. Also, Gill named a few more records to his name. He went past his own best score by a GT batter. His previous score of 101 against SRH was the former best score by a GT batter.
Following his destruction in Bengaluru, Gill said, “I am in good form, it’s about getting a start and converting it into a big one. It’s all working out for me in the business end of the tournament. You need to keep playing shots in T20 cricket. I know my game, I keep building on it.“
On playing CSK in their home, Gill opined, “It’s going to be an exciting one, playing against Chennai in Chennai. We have a great bowling attack and hopefully we’ll make it to the final for the second time.“
