Only two Australian players feature in Cricket Australia’s Test XI of the year 2023.
Cricket Australia has picked its best test XI of the year 2023. There have been so many memorable performances in test cricket with a special one from Travis Head in the ICC World Test Championship Final 2023 played at The Oval between India and Australia. Australia had a memorable year and ended up winning two big ICC titles along with retaining the Ashes 2023 in England.
Cricket Australia (CA) has also made a few surprise inclusions and exclusions from their best test XI of the year 2023. CA picked only two Indian players in the test XI of the year 2023. Two Indians namely Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Ashwin found a place in CA’s test XI of the year. Both Indian spinners had a terrific performance against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy played earlier this year.
Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Ashwin made a terrific performance in calendar year 2023 and contributed 74 wickets combined for the Indian team. Ravindra Jadeja played 7 test matches and scored 281 runs in 9 innings and picked up 33 wickets, while Ravi Ashwin took 41 wickets in 7 test matches he played in 2023.
CA’s Best Test XI of the Year 2023
Cricket Australia picked Usman Khawaja and Dimuth Karunaratne as their openers in the best Test XI. Khawaja and Karunaratne both had a terrific year and scored a bulk of runs. New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, England’s Joe Root, and Harry Brook were picked as middle-order batsmen. Ireland’s Lorcan Tucker has been picked as the wicket-keeper of the team.
Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Ashwin were picked as all-rounders of the XI and then comes Pat Cummins as leader of the team as well as the pace attack. South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and England pacer Stuart Broad were picked as Cummins’ partners in crime. English captain Ben Stokes failed to get a place in Cricket Australia’s Best Test XI of 2023.
