Jasprit Bumrah recently visited BCCI’s CoE ahead of IPL 2026.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has started off on a rather disappointing note with several key players being forced to withdraw or delay their return due to injuries. However, one team which has been safe from these injuries is Mumbai Indians (MI).

Not often does an IPL franchise threaten to dominate the competition prior to the start of the league. However, given the amount of experience, talent and fire-power present in the MI lineup, it would be a huge upset if they fail to qualify for the playoffs.

Having not won the tournament since 2020, MI will look to end their long drought and finally lift their sixth IPL trophy, under captain Hardik Pandya.

This made many speculate about an injury, but it was later learned that he working on strength and conditioning. His late arrival at the IPL is due to his strict workload management.

The best bowler in the world in the shortest format currently, Bumrah is a luxury every captain wishes for in T20s. With his ability to pick wickets in crunch moments, MI will be overjoyed to have Bumrah available for their opening game.

Bumrah will undergo his first training session at the Wankhede on March 28 (Saturday) in the evening, as the conditions would be identical to the actual match situation. For MI to win their 6th title, a lot relies on Bumrah and his fitness. Last year, he picked 18 wickets in 12 games with a sensational 6.67 economy rate.

MI kick off their IPL 2026 campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 29 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
