Vaibhav Suryavanshi awarded with 'Highest Civilian award' by President Droupadi Murmu, set to meet PM Narendra Modi

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is all set to miss Bihar’s remaining Vijay Hazare Trophy matches as he is currently in Delhi for the award ceremony.
Young batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s career is on the rise and on Friday, December 26, he was awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, which is one of the highest civilian awards for youngsters in the country.
To receive this award, the youngster arrived in Delhi on Wednesday and missed Bihar’s next Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 match against Manipur and is set to be unavailable for his team’s remaining matches as well.
Vaibhav received the award on Friday and had the opportunity of meeting President Droupadi Murmu and will also meet PM Narendra Modi. He received the award from the President, which was one of the defining moments of his young career so far.

Meanwhile, Vaibhav has been making headlines with the bat in recent times. He has been scoring centuries for fun and his most recent ton was against Arunachal Pradesh in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy in Ranchi on December 24.
The left-handed batter scored 190 off just 84 balls, powering Bihar to a mammoth total of 574/6, which is now the highest total in List A cricket. At 14 years and 272 days, he went into the record books for becoming the youngest Indian batter to score a century in List A cricket.

The previous record was held by Zahoor Elahi (15 years 209 days) for Pakistan Automobiles against Railways at Sahiwal in 1986. He scored his century off just 36 balls which was overtaken in the same match by Bihar’s Sakibul Gani who scored a 32-ball ton, eventually going onto score 128 runs.
After the award ceremony, Vaibhav and his fellow awardees will meet Indian PM Narendra Modi. The interaction will be aimed at inspiring the next-gen leaders of the country.
