Varun Chakaravarthy dismissed Aiden Markram for three runs in the second IND vs SA T20I in Gqeberha.
In the second IND vs SA T20I in Gqeberha, the Indian cricket team delivered an underwhelming batting performance after being put in by Aiden Markram. However, their bowlers showed up, in particular mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy, to keep the side in the hunt in a low-scoring encounter.
India finished their innings with an under-par total of 124 runs, with only all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel managing to cross the 20-run mark. Marco Jansen led the South African bowling attack, delivering an impressive four-over spell with figures of 1/25.
Defending 124, the Indian bowlers paved the way for a comeback, reducing South Africa to 34/2 in the powerplay. Arshdeep Singh made the first breakthrough for India, dismissing Ryan Rickelton for 13.
Bowling the last over of the powerplay, Chakaravarthy produced a fantastic googly to rattle Markram’s off stump. Trying to increase the scoring rate, Markram went for a slog but exposed a big gap between his bat and pad. Varun’s googly turned enough to hit the off pole, ending the innings of the South African captain.
