Virat Kohli has recently broken several records of Sachin Tendulkar in ODI cricket.

Virat Kohli’s commitment, dedication, and consistency has become a trendsetter in sports. He has been breaking several batting records. In the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Kohli went past Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 49 ODI centuries and is now leading the chart of most centuries in ODI format with 50 tons to his name. He is also 20 centuries away from touching Sachin’s record of 100 international centuries.

Former West Indian skipper Brian Lara has now made a huge statement on Kohli’s commitment to the game. Legendary left-hand batter Lara has said that if his son plays any sport he will be using Kohli as an example of commitment and dedication. This is not the first time Kohli has received such praise for his game. Kohli had a terrific World Cup 2023 and scored 765 runs in 11 innings with 3 centuries.

Brian Lara’s huge praise for Virat Kohli

Brian Lara praised Kohli for his magnificent performance in the World Cup and said, “I have a son and I can tell you that if my son has to play any sport, I will be using Kohli’s commitment and dedication to not just add to his strength, but whatever it takes to become a Number one sportsman.” Lara also said that Virat’s contribution can not be zeroed due to India’s loss in the World Cup 2023 final against Australia in Ahmedabad.

Lara further added that Kohli gave match after match in the World Cup, Lara said, “First of all, for Virat Kohli, I know a lot of people will say or have already said that Kohli’s performance does not matter as India did not win the World Cup… But a subsidiary of team success is individual success, and this is what Kohli has given India match after match throughout the World Cup.” Kohli scored 54 runs in the final against Australia.

While speaking at the Tiger Pataudi Memorial lecture in Kolkata, Brian Lara said that Kohli has changed the face of cricket. He added, “What impresses me most about Kohli is his true legacy, for he has changed the face of cricket and how you prepare for the game. The discipline that he has stands out, always.” Virat Kohli now holds the record for scoring the most number of runs in a single edition of the World Cup event.
