Virat Kohli reacts to Suryakumar Yadav's scintillating century against GT
Virat Kohli left in awe of Mumbai Indians batsman Suryakumar Yadav's maiden IPL century.
One of the best batters in the T20 format, Suryakumar Yadav notched up his maiden IPL ton against Gujarat Titans in match no. 57 of IPL 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium. A show put up by Surykumar with shots played all around the park left everyone short of words to praise the man. Virat Kohli, who was left in admiration of Suryakumar's maiden IPL century, posted an Instagram story that read, "Tula Maanla Bhau" meaning "Hats off to you".
Seldom do we see such innings in a T20 game. Prior to this, Suryakumar Yadav scored three international T20I centuries. One of the most exciting batters to watch in T20 cricket, Suryakumar brought up his much-awaited IPL ton after 135 games. An innings of 103*(49) was constructed with the help of 11 fours and 6 sixes.
Batting at no. 3, Suryakumar Yadav took the charge against the GT bowlers from the word go. After a good start provided by the MI openers, Suryakumar build up on that start and deposited the ball in every corner of the ground. Courtesy of his innings, MI ended their innings with 218 runs on the board.
Mumbai Indians' batting firepower takes center stage once again
Inaruguably, Mumbai Indians have one of the best batting units in IPL 2023. With the likes of Rohit Sharma, Ishana Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Cameron Green, and Tim David among others, MI's batting unit possesses all the skills from power-hitting to the finesse of building the game. Prior to this game, MI have scored 200-plus runs four times already in this season all while chasing. This was the first time this season that MI went past 200 runs in the first innings.
Batting first, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan got the team off to a flyer. Post that, it was all about Suryakumar Yadav's range-hitting that hogged the limelight. He came out all guns blazing and notched his maiden IPL century and in the process took MI to a potentially match-winning total of 218 runs. Most of the other batters too got a good start but no one good convert it into a score of more than 35 runs.
