Virat Kohli has now reached 8515* runs in 110 tests.

Just like Day 1, the second day of the ongoing first test between India and the West Indies in Dominica ended in favor of the visitors. Team India has firmed their grip even harder and are 162 runs ahead of the West Indies' first-inning score. At the stumps on Day 2, Yashasvi Jaiswal was unbeaten on 143, while Virat Kohli also looked good for his 36 runs.

The duo added an unbeaten partnership of 72 runs for the third wicket to help India end the final session of the second day wicketless. The day belongs to Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma. Both openers scored a century each. Jaiswal became only the third opener to score a century on his test debut. On the other hand, Rohit brought up his tenth hundred with a boundary. The Indian captain scored 103 runs with 10 fours and two sixes in his inning.

Jaiswal is looking in great touch and will eye a double ton on debut. Both Indian openers added 229 runs for the first wicket. But once Rohit got out, India also lost Shubman Gill (6) by 11 runs. India were at 240/2 in 78.5 overs when Virat Kohli joined the crease. There were a few LBW shouts at the start against Virat, and the West Indies burned two reviews on him.

But in the end, the former Indian captain was unbeaten, looking good for a big score. However, with his 36 runs on the second day, he achieved a special record. Virat went past the former Indian opener Virender Sehwag to become India's fifth-highest run-scorer in the longest format. Virat, who was at 8479 runs before the game, has now reached 8515 runs in 110 tests, surpassing Sehwag's tally of 8503 runs in 103 games.

The former Indian captain has also smashed 28 centuries and the same number of half-centuries. If he can score a century in the first innings, he will equal legendary Australian batter Don Bradman's record of 29 centuries in his test career. India is looking pretty good for a big lead on the third day. It will be interesting to see how long the Indians bat and how they go about business on Day 3.
