Faf du Plessis scored 54 runs and took a stunning catch in the RCB vs CSK match on Saturday.
In match No. 67 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Faf du Plessis took a sensational one-handed catch of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Mitchell Santner at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 18.
After being asked to bat first, Bengaluru posted a challenging total of 218/5 in 20 overs against defending champions CSK. Skipper du Plessis hammered 54 runs in the must-win match. He was well supported by his opening partner, Virat Kohli, who scored 47 runs. The duo stitched an opening stand of 78 runs. Rajat Patidar and Cameron Green also chipped in with the bat as the hosts went past 200 runs.
While defending 219, Bengaluru had a good start with the ball as they removed Chennai captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (0) and Daryl Mitchell (4) inside the first six overs. However, Ajinkya Rahane (33) and Rachin Ravindra (66) stabilized the visitors innings as they reached 115/4 in 13 overs.

However in the 15th over of the second innings, Bengaluru skipper du Plessis brought their ace pacer Mohammed Siraj into the attack. On the very last ball of the over, Siraj bowled a low full-toss and Santner leaned back and lofted towards Bengaluru skipper Faf, who was standing at the edge of the 30-yard circle.
However, it looked like the ball would fly over Du Plessis’ head, but he had other ideas. Faf timed his jump to perfection, stretched his hands out, and grabbed the ball.
Soon after taking the catch, the whole stadium along with the RCB team celebrated the wicket as Santner looked stunned while walking back to the CSK’s dugout. The Chennai all-rounder departed after scoring just three runs, whereas du Plessis has taken one of the finest catches of the ongoing tournament.
