Watch: Matheesha Pathirana's Malinga-esque yorker to castle Nehal Wadhera

Matheesha Pathirana picked 3 wickets conceding only 15 runs in his quota of 4 overs vs MI.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowler Matheesha Pathirana was on fire during his side’s IPL 2023 match against Mumbai Indians (MI) which was played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 6, 2023.

The two teams had previously met on April 8th at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai and CSK prevailed by 7 wickets.

MI had batted first and posted 157/8 with Ishan Kishan and Tim David scoring in 30s and Ravindra Jadeja took 3/20. In response, Ajinkya Rahane made 61 in 27 balls and Ambati Rayudu and Shivam Dube finished the match in style, with 7 wickets in hand.

This time however, MI was in good spirits having come into the game by defeating Punjab Kings by 6 wickets despite chasing 215 to win.

MS Dhoni won the toss in Chepauk and chose to bowl first and said that CSK were unchanged. MI, on the other hand, made one change as Tilak Varma missed out due to a niggle and Tristan Stubbs came into the XI

MI managed only 139/8 in 20 overs as Nehal Wadhera top scored with 64 in 51 balls, his first IPL fifty and Suryakumar Yadav and Tristan Stubbs made 20.

Matheesha Pathirana was the pick of bowlers for CSK as he ended up with 3/15 in his 4 overs. One of his victims was Nehal Wadhera.
