3 MCC members were suspended after their unruly behaviour against Australian team.

After a controversial dismissal of Jonny Bairstow, the Australian team were booed by the crowd at The Lord’s. Even they had to face a backlash even while walking down the prestigious Lord’s Long room, where MCC members sit to watch the game. Videos have emerged where it can be seen that MCC Members were also involved in booing and abusing the Australian team members walking toward the visiting team dressing room. Another video from inside the long room emerged where members can be heard booing and taunting the Australian members after the Bairstow dismissal, which changed the course of the chase for England on the final day.

After the incident, MCC suspended three members from MCC membership and also ‘unreservedly apologised’ to the Australian team after the unruly incident. When the Australian team were walking back for the Lunch break, Usman Khawaja was seen confronting a few members. Security intervened and tried their best to avoid the scuffle between the Australian opener and MCC members.

Along with Khawaja, David Warner was also involved in a heated exchange. Fans have criticised long room MCC members' behaviour after the incident, Lord’s crowd also remained hostile towards Australia on the final day after Jonny Bairstow was dismissed.

English's middle-order batsman Jonny Bairstow had a brain fade moment during England’s chase of 371 runs at The Lord’s. Bairstow after a leave walked towards non-striker (Ben Stokes) before the ball was dead, in between Australian wicket-keeper, Alex Carey collected the ball and later he aimed it towards stumps to run-out Jonny Bairstow. This took everyone by surprise as nobody expected a world-class batter to make such a blunder while batting. Former English players like Eoin Morgan, and Michael Vaughan all hailed Alex Carey’s presence of mind. Australia won the second test by 43 runs and gained a 2-0 lead in the Ashes 2023.
