CSK vs MI: Watch - MS Dhoni's master plan to send back Rohit Sharma on a duck

Rohit Sharma scored the 16th duck of his IPL career thanks to a clever MS Dhoni.

In the 49th game of the season, which is being played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 6, 2023, Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma's (MI) bad run in the IPL 2023 continues. He recorded a 3-ball duck against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Previously on April 8th, the two sides faced off at Mumbai's Wankhede stadium, with CSK winning by a margin of 7 wickets.

With Ishan Kishan and Tim David scoring in the 30s and Ravindra Jadeja taking 3/20, MI batted first and produced 157/8. Ajinkya Rahane responded by scoring 61 runs in just 27 balls, and Ambati Rayudu and Shivam Dube stylishly wrapped up the game with 7 wickets still to spare.

However, MI now visited Chennai to seek revenge for that loss after defeating Punjab Kings by 6 wickets despite chasing 215 to win in their last encounter.

CSK captain MS Dhoni revealed that his team was unchanged after winning the toss at Chepauk and choosing to bowl first. Tilak Varma missed out due to an injury, but Tristan Stubbs was added to the starting lineup for MI.

Ishan Kishan and Cameron Green were the MI's opening pair, however, they immediately lost their wickets after being removed by Tushar Deshpande and Deepak Chahar for 6 and 7, respectively. Rohit Sharma, who had not scored against PBKS, dropped down to No. 3 in the lineup.

However, MS Dhoni cleverly planned his removal as he approached the stumps as Chahar was bowling, and in an effort to capitalize on the situation, Rohit played a false shot.

He tried to scoop the ball over Dhoni’s head, instead, the ball missed his bat and instead took his glove and plopped to point position where Ravindra Jadeja took an easy catch, sending the MI skipper back for a duck.
