What happened to Nitish Rana? Why the KKR vice-captain is not playing in IPL 2024

Nitish Rana has been out of action since Kolkata Knight Riders’ first match of IPL 2024 against SRH.
The two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) playing XI has raised many doubts in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 with the absence of their vice captain, Nitish Raina.
The KKR vice captain, who played in his team’s season opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23, has been out of action since then. He missed the games against RCB, DC and CSK.
However, there has been no official statement from the KKR franchise regarding Rana’s absence so far. In the second match of their campaign against RCB, Anukul Roy replaced him in playing XI in RCB match.
What happened to Nitish Rana?
The KKR vice captain had a tough time on the field during KKR’s opening match in the IPL 2024 against SRH at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. While fielding during the second innings, Rana injured his hand and then left the field. Since that incident, he has not been named in KKR playing XI in the subsequent matches.
During the match against Hyderabad, Rana scored nine runs in 11 balls before being dismissed. It is to be noted that there has been no official statement from the KKR management regarding Rana’s injury.
Can’t wait to get on field: KKR vice-captain Rana
Meanwhile, on April 6, the 30-year-old uploaded a emotional post on his Instagram handle and captioned “Can’t wait to get on the field with a big smile and blessings.💜”
Saachi Marwah Rana shares huge update on Nitish Rana’s absence from IPL 2024
On April 8, Tuesday, hours before KKR’s game against CSK in Chennai, Rana’s wife Saachi Marwah posted a photo of the cricketer, who can be seen wearing a plaster cast on his left hand.
Looking at the photo from his wife’s Instagram story, it can be judged that the KKR vice-captain has most probably fractured his hand, for which he is wearing a plaster cast.
Here is the Instagram story:

As the IPL 2024 season progresses, all eyes will be on KKR to see if they shed light on Rana’s status and whether the vice-captain will returned to the field or he will be ruled out of the 2024 season.
