The defending champion, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), ended the league stage of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 with a loss. They suffered a 55-run defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Friday.
RCB lost the game, but they managed to finish the league stage at the top. On the other hand, SRH recorded their second-highest win over RCB. However, the win didn’t help them, and they still finished the league stage in third spot.
The stakes were very high, and fans witnessed an on-field exchange between Virat Kohli and Travis Head. Both superstars were seen going at each other, which ended up with a no-handshake controversy after the game.
What happened between Virat Kohli & Travis Head?

It was a crucial game for both teams, and the tension was at its peak. Head had a short but impactful cameo for SRH. He scored 26 runs off 16 balls, with five boundaries. Once he got out Kohli was seen celebrating in his own style. It didn’t stop here. During the second innings, both players were seen having a go at each other.
The incident happended during the fourth over of the second innings. Venkatesh Iyer slammed Shivang Kumar for three sixes and one boundary. In between the deliveries, Virat was seen gesturing toward Head, saying, “Okay, come down and bowl some deliveries.”
But once Virat got out, Head was heard murmuring, “Mate, you got out before I even came on to bowl.” That didn’t go well with Virat, and he even refused to shake hands with Head after the game.
Early on, it looked like a playful banter between two stars. But things got to the next level when Virat got out. He had a rare failure, and got out for 15 off 11 balls. Meanwhile, Head did come out to bowl during the 19th over and dismissed RCB captain Rajat Patidar on his second ball.
Eventually, SRH recorded a clinical win and will have the momentum going into the Eliminator. They will face the fourth-ranked side on Wednesday in Mullanpur. But before that, RCB and GT will face each other in Qualifier 1 in Dharamsala. The winner of this game will make it to the final.
