What will happen if Qualifier 1, GT vs CSK, IPL 2023 match gets abandoned due to rain?

The Qualifier 1 of IPL 2023 will be played between Gujarat Titans (GT)and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chennai.

Gujarat Titans (GT) will be squaring off against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Qualifier 1 of IPL 2023 on Tuesday, at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. GT finished on the top of the table, with 10 wins and 20 points in 14 matches.

CSK finished second with 8 wins and 17 points to their name in the league stage. In their previous meeting this season, the Hardik Pandya-led side registered a five-wicket win over CSK in Ahmedabad.

However, since both teams will now compete at Chepauk, the stronghold of the Men in Yellow, things might go either way. All eyes will be on the weather in addition to the tantalizing match since supporters do not want the rain to ruin the event.

Accuweather predicts that there will be little probability of rain in Chennai today. There will only be 1% cloud cover because there is just a 2% chance of precipitation. Thunderstorms have a 0% probability of occurring as well.

However, a super over will be used to determine the Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2, and Final results if it rains. The results will be announced based on the league stage performances if the playing surface is not suitable for a super over.

Due to the lack of reserve days in Qualifier 1, Eliminator, and Qualifier 2, this regulation will only apply to those events.

If the Qualifier 1 match gets abandoned due to rain then Gujarat Titans will head straight into the final as they finished as the table-toppers in the league stage.

The Eliminator will be played between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday at the same venue. Later, the Qualifier 2 and final will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
