Mumbai Indians have lost four games out of five in IPL 2026.

Mumbai Indians (MI) are having a tough time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The Hardik Pandya & Co. commenced the tournament with a big victory against Kolkata Knight Riders.

However, they lost four games in a row after that and now languish at the second-last spot in the IPL 2026 points table. MI have a strong squad with a likes of big names in Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Quinton de Kock, Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar among others.

However, opposition teams have managed to dominate despite that. them. As MI have struggled to win games in IPL 2026, we take a look are a few factors that have hampered MI’s strength in IPL 2026.

Reasons behind MI’s struggles in IPL 2026

1. Key bowlers failing to get wickets

Bowling has been MI’s biggest problem in IPL 2026. Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, and Deepak Chahar fom a formidable pace attack for Mumbai Indians. Despite bowling at a brilliant economy, Bumrah has failed to get wickets. Boult and Chahar have emerged too expensive. Shardul Thakur has managed to get wickets but his expensive spells have been the problem.

2. Batsmen struggling to score runs

While individual batters have managed to score big knocks, MI have struggled to score runs as a unit. Despite a good start in some games, the middle-order batsmen have failed to put on a good show. None of the MI batters are among the top 10 run-scorers, which reveals that their batters have struggled to score consistently.

3. Poor starts with bat

Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton are the openers for MI in IPL 2026. They did a wonderful job in the opening game against KKR. In the other games, one of them lost his wicket cheaply in the powerplay. Hence, they have not managed to get a blistering start in rest of the games, which has affected their totals.

How many games has MI won in IPL 2026 so far?

MI have won one game and lost four in IPL 2026 so far.
