Lizaad Williams has joined DC for his base price of INR 50 lakhs for IPL 2024.

South Africa pacer Lizaad Williams was named as the replacement of England batter Harry Brook by the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) for the ongoing IPL 2024 season. Harry Brook, who was bought by DC for INR 4 crores at the IPL 2024 auction, pulled out of the tournament.

England hitter Harry Brook withdrew from the event. He did so since his grandmother died and he wanted to spend time alone with his family. Brook’s grandmother’s ill health had forced him to withdraw from England’s recent India test tour, in which the visitors lost the five-match test series 1-4.

Brook declared before the season began that he would not be returning to India for a second IPL season.

DC have hired South African pacer Lizaad Williams for a base price of INR 50 lakhs. This will be his debut appearance in the IPL. Lizaad Williams, 30, has been in outstanding form, appearing in nine matches for the Titans in the Cricket South Africa T20 Challenge.

“Lizaad Williams, the South African fast bowler, has been signed by the Delhi Capitals as a replacement for England’s Harry Brook for the remainder of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024,” the official IPL Media Advisory stated.
