Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) are clashing in the 58th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 on May 14. The venue of the clash is HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
Shreyas Iyer & Co. are aiming to move closer to the playoffs with a victory in tonight’s clash. On the other hand, the Mumbai Indians have been eliminated from the tournament. Now, they will look to dent PBKS’ playoffs hopes.
Notably, MI‘s regular captain Hardik Pandya missed the previous two games, and Suryakumar Yadav led the side in his absence. Both of them are absent from tonight’s clash against the Punjab Kings. Jasprit Bumrah is leading the side.
Why are Hardik Pandya & Suryakumar Yadav missing the PBKS vs MI clash?
Notably, Pandya is still recovering from a back spasm, which kept him out of the last two games. He is currently in Mumbai and undergoing rehabilitation for his injury. Suryakumar is missing the clash due to personal reasons.
“I like responsibility, this is a new challenge and I will look to have fun. As much as we can, we can three games left and we want to enjoy and maybe ruffle a few teams. Surya is not here for personal reasons and Allah (Ghazanfar) is not there as well,” Bumrah said at the toss.
Both Hardik and Suryakumar have struggled to perform well in IPL 2026. In eight games, Pandya has scored 146 runs at a poor average of 20.86. He has taken four wickets at an economy of 11.90.
Suryakumar has scored just 195 runs in 11 games with one half-century. He got cheaply for low scores in many games.

Meanwhile, MI won the toss and opted to bowl first. Punjab made three changes to their side. Harpreet Brar, Xavier Bartlett and Azmatullah Omarzai were added to the playing XI.
