Why are Marcus Stoinis & Nehal Wadhera not playing tonight's PBKS vs MI clash of IPL 2026?

Marcus Stoinis played in PBKS’ last game against the Delhi Capitals.
The 58th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) is underway on May 14 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
While PBKS take the fourth spot in the points table and are looking forward to reaching the playoffs, MI have been eliminated from the tournament. Mumbai are placed ninth with six points.
Jasprit Bumrah is leading MI in the absence of Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav. He won the toss and opted to bowl first.
On the other hand, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer said that they have made three changes to their playing XI. Notably, Marcus Stoinis and Nehal Wadhera are not part of the encounter.
Why are Marcus Stoinis & Nehal Wadhera missing the PBKS vs MI clash?
Stoinis has been dropped for the encounter. He was part of the previous game against the Delhi Capitals. Wadhera has been overlooked once again. He last played in the match against the Gujarat Titans on May 3. Punjab have added Harpeer Brar, Xavier Bartlett, and Azmatullah Omarzai in their playing XI.
Revealing the playing XI at the toss, Iyer said, “We’ve got a phenomenal start and majority of them have been in great shape and positive mindset. That’s all we have to think about and going forward in this game, we have to be proactive in our approach and see to it that we show the best character possible. (Changes?) Harpreet Brar, Xavier Bartlett and Azmatullah Omarzai come in”.
Stoinis was picked in all the previous 11 games. He scored 179 runs in eight innings at 188.42, including one half-century. He picked up two wickets at an economy of 12.51. Wadhera completely struggled to make a mark with his batting, piling up just 65 runs in six innings.
