While CSK lost their previous game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, MI defeated the Gujarat Titans (GT) in their last game. Both teams have won two games and lost four out of six so far. Hence, they have suffered a poor start to the tournament.
MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to field first in match 33. Notably, MS Dhoni is not part of the clash. He has not played any games for CSK in IPL 2026 so far. On the other hand, MI’s Rohit Sharma is also absent from the game.
Why are MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma not part of the MI vs CSK?
Just ahead of IPL 2026, Dhoni suffered a calf injury during the pre-season training sessions. As a result, he was ruled out of the initial games of the tournament.
Earlier, CSK management had informed that Dhoni would miss the first two weeks due to the injury. He has commenced his practice sessions with the team. However, he is yet to return to the tournament. As per reports, he is likely to be available for the next match against the Gujarat Titans on April 26.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma sustained a hamstring injury in the clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He has been recovering from the issue ever since.
Rohit was seen practising in the training sessions. However, he is not yet fully match fit. He scored a half-century in the opening game but struggled to go big in other matches.
