Nicholas Pooran had all the time in the world to stump out Max Holden but didn’t.
Former West Indian star Nicholas Pooran has found himself in the middle of controversy in the ILT20. The incident happened during the game between MI Emirates (MIE) and Desert Vipers (DV) that was played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, December 9.
In the 16th over of the innings when Rashid Khan bowling to Max Holden, who was batting on 42 runs, the batter came down the track and missed the line of the ball. Pooran collected the ball cleanly and had all the time to stump him out but, he opted not to effect an easy stumping, leaving many fans puzzled.
Max Holden, eventually retired himself having taken 37 balls to score his 42 runs with the help of three boundaries. One of the reasons behind Pooran’s reluctance to stump-out the batter would have been due to Holden’s struggles with the bat. Many fans were aghast with the move and questioned Pooran’s actions on social media.
