Ryan Rickelton was part of all previous games of MI in IPL 2026.
Mumbai Indians (MI) are battling with Gujarat Titans (GT) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Monday, April 19, at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The Hardik Pandya & Co. have lost four games in a row and are hungry for a victory in tonight’s clash. However, they have a strong challenge against GT, who have the home advantage and a brilliant form.
The Shubman Gill & Co. won their last three games in a row. They have looked more balanced than MI in both departments.
In the match 30 of IPL 2026, GT captain Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to field first. They did not make any changes to their playing XI. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians came up with a few changes. Shockingly, opener Ryan Ricketton was not part of the encounter.
Why is Ryan Rickelton not playing GT vs MI game?
Rickelton has been dropped from the encounter and replaced by Danish Malewar, who is making his debut in the clash. Krish Bhagat is another debutant MI has added to the playing XI.
Rickelton was part of all five previous games in IPL 2026. He slammed a marvellous half-century in the opening game but struggled to replicate his performance. He registered scores of 9, 8, 37, and 2 in the next clashes.
Notably, since Quinton de Kock scored a century in the previous clash and is also a wicket-keeper batter like Rickelton, MI have preferred De Kock in the clash. Dropping Ryan also enabled them to balance their overseas limit in the playing XI.
Speaking about playing XI, Pandya said at the toss, “A couple of debuts for us. Danish (Malewar) makes his Mumbai Indians debut. And Krish (Bhagat) as well, who was part of the support bowlers, really impressed us. He got into the team three days back and such is life that he’s playing today”.
“We would have fielded as well. It’s obviously the last game for us as a group. We had to regroup and speak about what Mumbai Indians stands for and what kind of game we want to play. And we had a good amount of chats. People are looking forward to the game,” he added.
