Suryakumar Yadav is leading Mumbai Indians in absence of regular captain, Rohit Sharma today against KKR.

In the 22nd match of IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians are taking on Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium. Mumbai after winning their last encounter against Delhi Capitals, looked to gain momentum in their campaign. But just before Sunday’s clash against KKR, they suffered a huge setback as Captain Rohit Sharma is not leading and is out of the game due to a stomach bug. Rohit Sharma had done well with the bat as well against Delhi. Just when Mumbai were looking settled and comfortable, they will have to force a major change in their lineup. In the absence of Rohit Sharma, Middle Order batsman Suryakumar Yadav is leading the team for the first time in his IPL career.

Rohit Sharma misses out, Arjun Tendulkar to make debut

In another big news from this game, Arjun Tendulkar is given an opportunity to play after waiting for a long time in the dugout. Rohit Sharma has been kept in the reserves as well. Management will assess the situation along with Rohit to whether Rohit will come out to bat in the second inning or not. Captaining for the first time, Suryakumar Yadav had won the toss and invited Kolkata Knight Riders to bat first, Suryakumar in the toss said, “Rohit is out, He has a stomach bug”. After a long time, MI Captain is missing out on a game for Mumbai.

Kolkata had been batting nicely in the second innings. They chased down an unthinkable target against Gujarat Titans after a poor start. Rinku Singh had a wonderful run with the bat. Mumbai bowlers will have to work on restricting KKR under a par score as their mainstay in batting is out and Stand-in Captain Suryakumar Yadav is out of form.
