IND vs PAK: Will Ayush Mhatre take trophy from Mohsin Naqvi if Indian win U19 Asia Cup final?

This might be a repeat of the Asia Cup 2025 final, when the Indian team refused to take the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, and they have not received the Asia Cup trophy, which sits in the ACC office in Dubai behind locks.

Naqvi is expected to fly to Dubai to witness the live U19 Asia Cup final, according to Pakistani media reports (Geo News). He is also expected to be present for the closing ceremony, where he will probably give the winning team the trophy.  

Naqvi attended the senior Asia Cup final in Dubai in September 2025, where India triumphed over Pakistan. The Indian team decided not to accept the trophy or medals from Naqvi during the presentation ceremony, even though they had won.

India and Pakistan are currently participating in the Asia Cup final once more. Will India take the trophy from Naqvi if they win? Or is there going to be another dispute like the one during the senior tournament?

Naqvi will preside over the presentation ceremony, as he has done at previous ACC events this year, according to sources. Given the sensitive political and diplomatic ties between the two countries, his visit will be closely monitored.

Naqvi’s attendance at the closing ceremony is anticipated to be widely watched as India and Pakistan compete in another final, this time at the Under-19 level.
