Will Jacks' old tweet on Virat Kohli goes viral after RCB's win over GT in IPL 2024
Virat Kohli and Will Jacks stitched a match-winning partnership of 166 runs against GT.
In match No. 45 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) displayed a stunning batting performance against Gujarat Titans (GT) as they hammered them by nine wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium on April 28.
After opting to field first, Bengaluru had a terrific start with the ball as they removed Gujarat openers Wriddhiman Saha (5) and Shubman Gill (16) inside seven overs. However, it was Sai Sudharsan (84*) who held one end till the end for GT, as he ended up as the highest run-getter for the hosts.
Shahrukh Khan (58) and David Miller (26*) also contributed to the Titans’ total as they reached 200/3 in 20 overs. While defending the total, Titans removed Bengaluru skipper Faf du Plessis (24) in the fourth over.
However, former RCB captain Virat Kohli and overseas batter Will Jacks stitched an unbeaten match-winning partnership of 166 runs. Kohli remained not out on 70 runs, while Jacks smashed his maiden IPL century in just 41 deliveries.
One of the best parts of Jack’s explosive innings was when he hammered Titans bowlers Mohit Sharma and Rashid Khan for over 25 runs in the 15th and 16th overs respectively. Jack’s fiery knock consisted of five fours and 10 maximums with a mind-blowing strike rate of over 240 as the visitors won the match by nine wickets and chased down the 201 runs in just 16 overs.
A old tweet of Will Jacks on Virat Kohli goes Viral after RCB’s win over GT
Veteran opener Kohli continued his purple patch in the ongoing 17th edition of the IPL. After the end of the GT vs. RCB match, Kohli became the first batter to reach 500 runs in the IPL 2024 edition. After an impressive 70* runs against last year’s runners-up GT, Kohli strengthened his position at the top of the Orange Cap leaderboard.
Soon after a comprehensive win over Gujarat, Will Jacks’ old tweet went viral on social media handle ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). In his old tweet, Jacks was seen praising Kohli as he wrote, “The king for a reason 👑.”
Here is the viral tweet of Will Jacks:
What is the main reason behind Will Jack’s praising Virat Kohli in his old tweet?
In the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, India faced arch-rivals Pakistan in the 16th match of the tournament. Babar Azam-led Pakistan posted a fighting total of 159/8 in 20 overs against a strong Men in Blue bowling line-up at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23rd, 2022.
However, India started on a shaky note as they lost four batters in seven overs. Kohli first stitched a crucial stand of 113 runs with all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
When India needed 48 runs in the three last three overs, Kohli showcased his class as he hammered Pakistan’s three bowlers, Harris Rauf, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz, for 17, 15, and 16 runs, respectively, which guided India to an unimaginable four-wicket win.
Kohli played a match-winning knock of 53-ball 82 with the help of four maximums and six boundaries. After his exceptional innings, cricket pundits hailed his terrific knock, and England’s batter Jacks was one of them to praise the Chase Master Kohli.
