Mumbai Indians signed six players at WPL 2027 auction.
The fifth edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is around the corner, and all five franchises have built strong squads for the upcoming campaign. The WPL 2027 season is scheduled to begin on January 14, 2027.
The auction was held in Kochi on Wednesday, October 28, with all the franchises doing a decent job in filling the gaps that they had in their last squad last season. Several Indian and overseas players went under the hammer, and it was Australia’s Sophie Molineux, who fetched the highest bid of ₹1.10 crore from UP Warriorz.
One of the teams which was under the spotligh during WPL 2027 auction was Mumbai Indians (MI). They are among the most successful teams in the competition, having won the WPL title twice. However, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side failed to qualify for the playoffs in the 2026 season and will look to make a stronger comeback in the upcoming campaign.
With a limited purse of ₹90 lakh, Mumbai Indians entered the WPL 2027 auction with fewer funds than the other franchises. They focused on adding young Indian talent to their squad and signed six players for ₹10 lakh each.

Mumbai began their auction business by signing uncapped Indian batter Disha Kasat for ₹10 lakh. The top-order batter could be a great option for the franchise as they look to strengthen their batting line-up for the upcoming season.
MI then added wicketkeeper-batter Latika Inamdar and spinner Bharti Rawal at the same price. The franchise also signed Sanika Chalke, Shweta Sehrawat and all-rounder Akshita Bhagat for ₹10 lakh each.
MI also showed interest in Kiran Navgire during the auction. However, Delhi Capitals secured the Indian batter for ₹75 lakh.
